How do you get a Diagonale des Fous bib?
It depends on where you come from. Réunion, mainland France and overseas territories: lottery in March, after pre-registration from late January to early March. Foreign runners: no lottery, from mid-January (250 places in 2026), or with a flight and hotel package.

How do you enter each Grand Raid race?
Four races out of five go through a lottery, but not the Zembrocal Trail: it is run in teams of 4. What changes from one race to another is the points required (1 km = 1 point, 100 m of climbing = 1 point).
How do you enter the Diagonale des Fous?
Réunion residents, mainland France and overseas territories: lottery in March, after pre-registration from late January to early March. Non-resident foreigners: no lottery from mid-January, or a flight and hotel package. You need 2 trails of at least 85 points. 180 km, 10,200 m of climbing, €260 (2026).
How do you enter the Zembrocal Trail?
As a team of 4, with no lottery. 160 km, 8,460 m of climbing, €390 per team (2026).
How do you enter the Trail de Bourbon?
Through the lottery, with 1 trail of at least 75 points. 106 km, 6,200 m of climbing, €190 (2026). Lottery calendar: in principle the same as the Diagonale, to be checked.
How do you enter the Mascareignes?

How do you work out your points for the Diagonale des Fous?
1 km is worth 1 point, 100 m of elevation gain is worth 1 point. So a 60 km trail with 2,500 m of gain is worth 85 points. You need 2 at that level, without adding up several races.
Do foreign runners have to go through the Grand Raid lottery?
No: non-resident foreign runners register with no lottery from mid-January (250 places in the Diagonale in 2026), or take a package with flight and hotel. The lottery is for Réunion residents, mainland France and overseas territories.
What happens if you are not drawn?
The price you paid is refunded, minus €15, about 2 weeks after the draw. You go on the waiting list (offers until August 31), and the next year your application counts double, if you try the same race with the same account.
